TV Cabinets Guide

Televisions are a very prominent item found in most homes.
Some families restrict the presence of a television to one room of the house, usually the living
room or a finished basement, while other families prefer to have televisions in many rooms of the
house.
Televisions are often found in places ranging from kitchens
to master bathrooms to children’s bedrooms to multiple living and lounging spaces. As popular as
televisions may be, however, there are often times when one wishes they could just hide the
television away from the view of guests and create a less television-centric living space. A TV
cabinet is the perfect solution to this desire.

Typically, a TV cabinet is
designed like other types of cabinets or wardrobes. They are usually freestanding against a wall and have a varying
number of drawers and smaller cabinets decorating the sides, top, and bottom of the main cabinet in which the
television fits.

The drawers can be used for storing movies and remotes. Open shelves are also sometimes included
for decorative purposes. TV cabinets can be only as wide as the television it contains, or expand the length of a
wall and contain lots of additional storage space.
If you are considering any type of home or room remodeling in the future,
you may consider designing a custom, built-in TV cabinet.
A popular option in newer homes, these built in TV cabinets create a very
unified look among the cabinetry in a room, and when all the cabinets are closed, including the one containing the
television, no one will know you have a large 47” flat screen TV hidden behind it. Different TV lift cabinet models also
disguise a TV, and are gaining in popularity.
The best place to look for a TV cabinet is at a store that sells furniture.
There are many different options depending on how much you wish to spend on your TV cabinet. High-end furniture
stores, like Arhaus Furniture and Ethan Allen, will have very well made, sometimes even customizable, options for
you to choose from but at high prices. Good mid-range stores to try include Room Store, Value City Furniture, and
Pier One.
If you are just looking for something simple and inexpensive, mass market
discount retailers like Target and Wal-Mart often have a few TV cabinets for sale in their stores. They also often
have more furniture options available on their websites. Ikea is also a good place to look. Finally, many online
retailers sell various TV cabinets on their websites and offer reasonable shipping options.
